Workstation Installation Instructions

Workstation Installation Sequence 

On each workstation

1. Log in as the system administrator 

You must have Administrator rights to install NCR Counterpoint for the first time on a workstation.

NOTE: The default Administrator User name and Password for Radiant POS terminals are administrator and gorads.

2. Install prerequisites on the Workstation

Notes:

Available from the Counterpoint download files at the CounterPoint user portal.

Home > Support > Product Downloads > NCR Counterpoint Downloads

(CPSQLPrerequisites.exe). If you are on an older version of CPSQL check the archives for the correct version.

3. Install Counterpoint

Select to install Program Files

Optionally, install:

• Utilities

• Dashboard

• Documentation

Notes:

Browse to the installation folder on server and run ClientSetup.exe

Includes a number of database- and systemrelated tools, including the SQL Script Utility and the System Configuration utility. Installs the necessary components for the Dashboard, if they are not already installed.

4. Install Perfect Keyboard if you want to use this “keyboard macro” program on workstation

 From 3rdParty folder of CPSQL Complete Download, select the Perfect Keyboard folder and then execute Setup.exe.

5. Install SQL Server 2000 Data Transformation Services (DTS)

runtime if you want to use the Data Migration utility or an export accounting interface. 

Note:

If you installed SQL Server 2008 Express R2 from the CPSQL Prerequisites, DTS is already installed. If you installed SQL Server 2008 R2 from a different source, visit Microsoft’s website to download SQL Server 2000 Data Transformation Services.

6. Install Counterpoint Service Pack

Notes:

After SP is installed on server, next user who starts Counterpoint at a workstation will be asked to auto-install service pack. Administrative rights are NOT required to install a service pack on a workstation. Installation Permissions for NCR Counterpoint Server Workstation New Install or New Release System Administrator System Administrator Minor Release or Service Pack System Administrator Any Counterpoint user.
